Interplanetary Criminal
Interplanetary Criminal is a Manchester-based DJ, producer, and co-founder of ATW Records whose sound spans UK garage, speed garage, and breakbeat. Built around swinging percussion, weighty basslines, and chopped vocal hooks, his music connects the foundations of British club culture with the energy of contemporary dance floors.
Known offstage as Zach Bruce, he reached a wider international audience in 2022 through “B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All),” his collaboration with Eliza Rose. The track reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, bringing garage rhythms to mainstream radio while introducing new listeners to a producer firmly rooted in the underground.
That connection remains central to his work. Through ATW Records, Interplanetary Criminal helps create a platform for contemporary garage, drawing on the genre’s history while supporting its continued evolution. His productions balance playful vocal samples and melodic touches with the heavier bass and rhythmic tension that define his club sound.
Behind the decks, he brings those elements into fast-moving sets that travel through rolling four-to-the-floor grooves, shuffling two-step rhythms, and broken beats. His approach combines familiar references with less predictable selections, using changes in rhythm and intensity to keep the dance floor moving.
Appearances at Glastonbury, Dekmantel, and The Warehouse Project have carried that sound to major international stages, alongside club performances that allow for longer, more exploratory sets. Across his releases, label work, and DJ performances, Interplanetary Criminal has established a distinctive presence in modern UK garage—connecting its enduring dance-floor appeal with a new generation of listeners.
