DNCR / imprint – Extended Mix
by Kaskade
The two new singles introduce “undux,” an album shaped by Kaskade’s personal challenges and growth. This release marks a new creative chapter rooted in resilience and renewal. With “DNCR” and “Imprint,” Kaskade steps boldly into a new era, unveiling the first pages of undux. (Kaskade regresa: “DNCR” y “Imprint” marcan el inicio de su etapa más vulnerable, 2025) Released today, these emotionally charged singles reveal an artist trading spectacle for intimacy. They draw listeners into a world built on memory and genuine connection. “DNCR” bursts with energy, anchored by a haunting refrain: “What you need / I could be the answer / Take my lead / You make me a dancer.” Crisp percussion and glowing piano create a house groove that drives momentum, inviting listeners into its rhythm. "This song taps into surrender—the way connection pulls you from your thoughts into the present," explained Kaskade. 'You make me a dancer' isn’t just about movement; it’s being moved by another’s energy. Dancing is vulnerability and trust. It’s joy amid struggle—sometimes the answer is to let go and move. With rising vocalist Courtney Storm, “Imprint” turns inward and traces the ache of emotional imperfection. “I’ve been looking through these pages / Trying to wrap my head around / Why the story’s reading backwards / Without feeling overwhelmed.” Storm’s vocals drift above icy chords and a deep, pulsing bass. Her raw delivery echoes the song’s vulnerability. Kaskade explains that the lyrics are “about memory, perspective, and the marks people leave on our lives – sometimes permanent, sometimes like ink that fades.” He said the track came during “a stretch where I’ve had to sit with a lot of change, confusion, and reflection.” It helped him process emotions that didn’t have clear answers. “It’s me saying, I’m still here, and I’m still being written.”
