Childish is the fifth studio album by American electronic music producer Lane 8 (Daniel Goldstein). It was released on September 27, 2024, on his own label, This Never Happened. The album's concept and title are inspired by the innocence and purity of creativity that people have as children, which Goldstein observed in his own kids. The album looks at ideas like embracing freedom, breaking away from expectations, and trusting your instincts. Here, "childish" becomes a positive word, used as a mantra for natural creativity. Lane 8 wants to reclaim the word from its usual negative meaning. Lane 8 has shared that watching his children draw, make up songs, and play with pure joy inspired him to find that same free creativity in himself. He noticed that, as an adult, he had started to focus too much on results and what others expected, instead of just enjoying making music. The album, therefore, serves as a positive mantra for this shift in perspective. It's about: -Embracing freedom: Making music for the sheer enjoyment of it, without worrying about how it will be received by fans or critics. -Breaking from expectations: Moving away from the pressure to create tracks that will be hits or will work perfectly in his live sets. -Trusting intuition: Letting the creative process be more natural and playful, like how a child makes art.
