His drive to create and perform is so strong that he uses not just one stage name, but two more: Mariel Ito and Maetrik Live, each with its own distinct sound and unique approach to performing. Maceo often performs at the biggest events in cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Ibiza, New York, and anywhere else top dance music artists gather.

Born in Miami to first-generation Cuban immigrants, Eric Estornel grew up in one of America’s most lively cities, where everyone seems to have a sense of rhythm. As a young man, he quickly became immersed in music, becoming obsessed with various types of electronic music as he made his way into Miami’s famous party scene. His older brother, a professional dancer, introduced him to the break-beat and electronic music scene in Miami. This new kind of music and cool style, mixed with his Latin background, helped shape his always-changing sound. When he moved to Dallas in the early 1990s, he continued to cultivate his love for electronic music. Driven by his newfound passion, he purchased his first drum machine by saving money from working as a dishwasher at a local restaurant.

Maceo, also known as Eric Entity, started building his worldwide audience during the late 1990s rave scene. Dallas became the place where he began his professional dance music career, performing under the name Maetrik. It was not until 2010 that he became known as Maceo Plex, after he and his wife moved to Valencia, Spain, leaving everything behind to look for something new. Maceo Plex stands out among the many DJs and producers due to his genuine passion for music and his exceptional ability to create something new and distinct. He has already reached a rare level of success and shows no signs of stopping, as he continues to move his music in new directions and make his shows even better.
