Swedish EDM DJ Producer Marcus Schossow

Swedish EDM DJ Producer Marcus Schossow was born in Helsingborg, Sweden on October 28, 1985. His aliases include 1985, Oliver Englafjord, Progresia, Sokaya, Sunglider, and Tone Diary. He and his alter egos have been making music since he was five years old!

The Disruption of EDM 2007

Marcus released ‘Mr. White’ on Coldharbour Recordings Red in 2007. ‘Mr. White’ was a fusion of futuristic techno, filthy house, and trance. Its sound was intended to reinvent electronic dance music. It automatically became appealing to a whole host of DJs and music fans alike. Marcus was part of a hot, new, elite set of young DJs and producers with dance floors around the world clamoring for his infectious presence and prodigious mixing.

Progresia and Tone Diary established the ‘Schossow Sound’ while his work with fellow producer Thomas Sagstad has seen Tiesto, Axwell, and Steve Lawler snapping up tracks like ‘Hypnotizer’ and ‘Crepusculo.’ World-renowned label Spinnin’ Records gave Marcus their full backing when they signed him after his 22nd birthday. This signing made him their youngest to date.

At only 22, Marcus became a force in the dance music realm. Further support came from the A-list of DJ Producers including Pete Tong, Armin Van Buuren, Steve Angelo, and Sander van Doorn. These endorsements underlined Marcus’s increasing influence in the world of dance.

With Tone Diary, Marcus’ acclaimed radio show; the sound of Schossow travels even further. Setting the airwaves ablaze, he reaches those not lucky enough to have caught him live yet and reminds those who have of why they’ll have to check him out again!

And it’s not just his ability as a producer that screams ‘watch this person.’ Schossow is in demand around the world! He’s spun in major cities in the United States such as Los Angeles and Miami. He joined Andy Moor for his WMC 2010 event, Andy Moor and Friends. He’s in constant demand across Europe, the Far East and beyond are all calling out for gaps in his diary. In the short time, Marcus has been around; he’s already clocked up some of the biggest gigs in the calendar: Dance Valley, Godskitchen, Sunrise Festival, Escape Into the Park, Zurich’s Street Parade and the Colours Festival are just some!

Marcus possesses a résumé packed to the brim with releases on major labels. They include Size Records, Axtone Records, Revealed Recordings, Big Beat (Atlantic Records), and Spinnin’ Records. He also injected new life into his Code Red imprint with the banger, ‘Rumble.’ Marcus also serves as an outstanding mentor to young artists. He uses his status as a veteran in the scene when working along names like Corey James, NEW_ID and more.

Code Red Music

If you want to do something good, you have to do it yourself.

It was that belief that led Marcus Schossow to begin the Code Red Music project in 2015. The basic concept is to find, recruit, and mentor talented artists. The label’s core values as both an institution and record company were quickly acclaimed by many.

In Marcus’s words,

we wanted to create a place where our musical dreams can run wild

A core value of this belief is to

speak to each other daily, seeking to help and assist wherever possible

Not in the form of a constitution or set of rules, but in creative freedom.

Code Red Music’s focus is the musical journey and experience. Charts are valued just as much as discovery. At the core of this mission is interaction. Through the shared vision of Marcus, the artists, and their fans, they aspire to expand the quest for musical freedom and friendship.

Friendship is an important construct, and this involves everyone. Through interviews, tutorials and feedback sessions, the Code Red team wants to hear everyone’s thoughts and help improve the music. They want everyone to become part of this shared belief, and

have the options to create what we want to do, without anyone telling us how

German Scottish Trance Producer Andy Duguid

German Scottish Trance Producer Andy Duguid

German Scottish Trance Producer Andy Duguid was born on November 16, 1982, in Gutersloh, Germany. His hometown is New Pitsligo, a small village in Aberdeen, Scotland. His aliases include Reeves, Corsie, and Emilio Fernandez.

Childhood Musician To Stardom

I am a child of the 80’s, I was born in Gutersloh, Germany, although my parents relocated to England very soon after. I remember being drawn and influenced by music from a very early age, not least Jean Michel Jarre, so when my parents bought me a keyboard, the circle became complete. I remember spending hours practicing, first teaching myself the musical basics and then developing an obsession and desire to create weird and wonderful sounds. Nothing in the house was safe; everyday objects were all fair game; I even made a Xylophone out of a water bottle!

Young Andy started to play keyboards and piano when he was ten years old. By the time he was fourteen, he had produced music. In the following ten years of learning and experimenting, Andy released his first track, ‘Hypocrisy’ in 2006 on Tiesto’s Black Hole Recordings. ‘Hypocrisy’ reached number 5 on the Dutch Dance Charts and was popular with trance titans Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. His next single, ‘Don’t Belong,’ was also very well received and featured on ‘In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza.’ Andy went on to become a frequent remixer for some of the most prolific artists in trance and progressive such as Tiësto, Johan Gielen, Phynn, Filo & Peri, Richard Durand and Mr. Sam.

In October 2007 Black Hole Recordings requested an album from Andy. Andy enlisted fellow Black Hole Recordings artists Julie Thompson, Esmaye, Mr. Sam, and Solarstone, as well as his longtime friend vocalist Leah. The resulting album ‘Believe’ released in 2008 to critical acclaim. The first release ‘Wasted’ featuring the vocals of Leah became a signature sound.

Personal Tragedies Came in 3s

Andy’s father passed away prematurely in 2005. This personal suffering, however, had an unexpected effect;

something snapped inside me. I knew I had to seize the – albeit sad – opportunity and go for it, so I quit the nine-to-five and focused on music full time.

Ninety days after his father’s passing is when Andy signed with Dutch giant Tiesto’s Black Hole Recordings. The next twelve months saw Andy’s career skyrocket.

The dream was interrupted by a nightmare when Andy learned of his brother’s diagnosis of terminal cancer. Andy confirmed he wrote the last track ‘White Sands’ with his brother. He told VH1 India

This track means so much. You can lose pictures or videos of your loved ones but this is something that will be around forever, and it makes me very proud of my brother.

Andy’s brother passed away two days after the release of his first album, ‘Believe.’

But so proud he managed to live long enough to see the release of my first album, even if it was by two days.

Olivia Downie

Andy’s friends, Steven and Lauren Downie had a daughter, Olivia. Olivia received a diagnosis of Neuroblastoma was she was just four years old. For the next three years, Olivia suffered unimaginable agony. Her parents traveled with her to Mexico’s Hope 4 Cancer Institute for treatment but ended up stranded. After news reached Scotland, the public raised 150,000 pounds for air ambulance transport back to Scotland. Olivia returned to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital where she passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 29, 2012. She was 7 years old.

Olivia was the inspiration for ‘7Even,’ a collaboration between Andy and Jaren. ‘7Even’ was released on October 14, 2013, on Andy’s second album, ‘On The Edge.’ He announced all of his royalties from the track were to be donated to cancer research in Olivia’s name.

The DJ

Known as one of the unique electronic artists of his time, Andy Duguid is a name recognized globally. His sound is his brand, and his brand is why he is unique. He is different; he is the master of his trade, he is Andy Duguid.

Alongside his productions, his DJing has taken him to every corner of the world, through Europe, Africa, and Asia and onwards to the United States. He graced the decks in cities from Los Angeles to Miami, where he joined Andy Moor for his WMC 2010 event, Andy Moor and Friends.

AUSSIE ELECTRONICA DJ PRODUCER TYDI

Aussie Electronica DJ Producer tyDi

Aussie Electronica DJ Producer tyDi

Aussie electronica DJ Producer tyDi is one of the leading artists in electronic dance music since 2002. Born Tyson Illingworth in Mooloolaba, Australia, on May 31, 1987, he goes by the aliases ‘Wish I Was’ and ‘Tyson Diorr.’ Unlike many of his contemporaries, he studied music late in life, age 14 to be exact. He fell in love with trance music and was also interested in music theory. So much so, he wrote music during his school lunch breaks. The earliest inspiration for his music was a relationship he had in school.

He competed in every DJ competition he could find while keeping them from his parents. They influenced him to be a drummer and bought him a drum set. He was so appreciative of the drums he traded them for turntables. Teenagers. As if DJ’ing isn’t hard enough, he used his older sisters to gain access to clubs because he was too young to enter at the time. The risk was worth the reward as Tyson won his first career DJ competition at age 16 under his school nickname ‘tydi.’ The spelling of ‘tyDi’ resulted from a typographic error on a promotional flyer for the Brisbane DJ Wars competition that he won.

A little-known record label, Armin van Buuren’s ‘Armada’ signed young tyDi at age 17. After high school, he applied to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. The Conservatorium accepted him as one of 3000 applicants for the potential 30 seats in the program. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music Technology.

Touring and DJ Awards

Post graduation, tyDi toured Australia. In 2006, he entered the Technics InTheMix Australian Top 50 DJs, reaching number 12. After gaining more experience at music festivals in 2007, he reached number 4 in the Top 50 DJ charts. In 2008 and 2009, he became Australia’s youngest number 1 DJ and the first non-New South Wales winner of the award. In 2010 he won ‘Best Break-Through DJ’ at the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) in Miami. Tiesto presented him the award. Between 2008 and 2012 tyDi was included in the annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll. He reached number 48 in 2011.

In 2015, the Conservatorium awarded him the Griffith University Young Outstanding Alumnus of the Year for his contributions to the music industry.

Early Discography

tyDi released tracks on Andy Moor’s label, AVA Recordings between 2008 and 2012. He joined Andy for two Miami Music Week events, Andy Moor & Friends in 2010 and AVA Takeover in 2012.

In 2009, his first album, ‘Look Closer,’ reached number 2 on the Australian Dance charts. His second album ‘Shooting Stars’ released in 2011, reached number 1 on the Australian, Canadian, Finnish and UK iTunes Dance charts and number 4 in the USA.

Through his extensive discography, which includes five full-length albums, countless singles and remixes, and numerous EPs across diverse genres, he’s topped global charts, he’s toured the world, and he’s made his indelible mark on the music world. Now, tyDi reinvents his sound once again via Collide, his forthcoming artist album set for self-release early 2018 via Global Soundsystem Records.

Collide

Four years in the making, Collide unveils tyDi’s latest artistic evolution. It’s a hefty undertaking reflective of tyDi’s developed skills as a songwriter and producer and traversing many styles and sounds.

On Collide, tyDi bridges the worlds of electronic and orchestral music as he presents an entirely new sound in uncharted territories. Collectively, the album threads a grand sonic narrative built on precise composition, progressive musicality, intelligent sound design, layered songwriting and grandiose orchestral scoring. Through its 12 original tracks, Collide creates an unprecedented musical journey that transports listeners off the dance floor and into the concert halls.

The first official album single ‘Closing In’ delivers dreamy synths that float over soft piano melodies and dance atop a beautiful brass section with a bed of majestic strings. The track also features the delicate yet powerful vocals of guest singer Dia Frampton. Dia was the runner-up in the inaugural season of The Voice. The Voice is NBC’s TV singing competition. In 2014, Dia and tyDi also collaborated on his 2014 single ‘Stay.’

The single ‘Gold Blooded’ charges open with an energetic introduction of violins and live brass instruments before diving into a melodic halftime trap chorus featuring empowering vocals from artist Dyson, while ‘Fallen Angel’ forges an intense and massive ride through dubstep-tinged force and modern bass music.

Longtime devotees find a special surprise in ‘Did You Know?’ where tyDi revisits his trance roots with an orchestral twist: Chunky synthesizers and futuristic sequencers build a digital playground as lush strings, and horns paint a cinematic backdrop while ‘London Rouge’ angelically coos of love and longing. Elsewhere, tyDi offers up an intimate, introspective look on ‘You Don’t Love Me,’ a personal reflection on love lost encapsulated by a vulnerable yet uplifting vocal performance from Tori Roper, who perfectly captured the powerful emotion driving the song atop a lulling electro house beat.

tyDi explained,

I wanted to make something larger than life, I needed to impress myself by making an album that’s so detailed, so thorough, so musically complex that you couldn’t copy it. This album is so uniquely me; it cannot be duplicated.

Collide is a continuation of sorts of tyDi’s 2014 album Redefined, a significant effort that saw the producer’s first foray into live elements and instrumentation via his use of string quartets, violas, violins, double bass, guitarists, live vocalists and much more.

Collide also sees tyDi implement his conservatory training as well as his academic classical music degree and musical upbringing.

An accomplished musician, tyDi enlisted two times GRAMMY award-winning composer and seasoned veteran Christopher Tin to help bring Collide to the masses. Best known for his composing and scoring work across the concert music, film and video game industries, Tin has won multiple awards and accolades: In 2011, his choral piece ‘Baba Yetu’ from the video game ‘Civilization IV’ became the first piece of video game music to win a Grammy Award, while his album ‘Calling All Dawns’ took home a second Grammy for Best Classical Crossover Album that same year.

tyDi said of his collaboration with Tin,

To make my dream album, I needed someone experienced who was a king in the composing world, this is the type of composition you can only get from an entire orchestra, and I owe so much to Christopher.

For tyDi, it all now comes full circle on Collide, his most ambitious and most challenging project to date.

When you watch a film with an intense score, you’re swept away to a different planet. The atmosphere, emotions, melodies, and instruments captivate you. That feeling doesn’t always enter the dance realm. I wanted to capture that magic and bring it to the electronic world.

Still, all the minute details, all the long hours in the studio and all the sleepless nights that went into the album are evident throughout Collide. And, according to tyDi, this is only the beginning.

I’m at a point in my career where I’m not satisfied doing the same thing. All the ambition, all the drive behind this album comes from the need and internal desire to combine every single thing I’ve ever learned in my musical career and put it into this project, to show everyone what I’m capable of.

Iceland Secret Solstice 2018

Iceland Secret Solstice 2018 from June 21 – 24 is the bucket-list music festival held during 96 hours of straight sunlight in Reykjavik. The signature Side Events, Into The Glacier and The Lava Tunnel return for their fifth edition with tickets went on sale Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 7 am ET / 4 am PT. Combining a world-class music festival with the many natural attractions that the land of fire and ice has to offer, Secret Solstice will once again prove why it has earned the title of the world’s “unique festival” thanks to their spectacular event experiences you can’t find anywhere else.

The New York Times described Iceland as one of,

20 Places To Travel In Your 20s.

Wonders of Nature

There are many reasons that Iceland is a popular destination for tourists eager to experience the country’s otherworldly landscape of glaciers and volcanic deserts. Recently nominated by The European Festival Awards, the carbon-neutral festival attracts visitors from across the globe keen to dance in the rays of the never-setting midnight sun to a world-class and diverse musical lineup while experiencing many of the country’s extraordinary environmental attractions. Just outside Reykjavik, visitors can discover supernatural landscapes boasting beautiful waterfalls, icy glaciers, black sand beaches, and vast volcanic fields as well as world-famous sites like the Blue Lagoon and Game of Thrones filming locations. More accessible than ever from major U.S. cities, it’s not hard to see why Reykjavik is the second most popular destination by travel search engine Kayak.

The Side Events utilize Iceland’s stunning natural settings and spaces and cater to both music and nature lovers, offering once in a lifetime, jaw-dropping experiences. While stepping inside Europe’s second largest glacier Langjökull or journeying deep into a 5,200-year-old Lava Tunnel, those lucky enough to snap up one of the highly prized tickets will be treated to intimate and exclusive performances from Icelandic and international artists. For thousands of years what lay beneath the surface of the Langjökull glacier was considered a mystery and it was only recently that humans were able to see the spectacular blue ice buried 130 feet beneath the surface. Equally as breathtaking, the journey into the magnificent lava caves at Raufarhólshellir is a chance to witness what happens underground during a volcanic eruption which results in natural ice sculptures and stalactites in connecting lava tubes that form natural subterranean arteries. With extremely limited tickets available for ‘Into The Glacier’ on Saturday, June 23 and The Lava Tunnel taking place on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, these events are sure to sell out.

Billboard magazine exclaimed,

Secret Solstice is shaping up to be one of the standout international events on the summer calendar.

Artists at past editions of Secret Solstice have included the likes of Anderson .Paak, Big Sean, Chaka Khan, Die Antwoord, Dubfire, Foo Fighters, Kerri Chandler, Jamie Jones, Of Monsters and Men, Radiohead, Rick Ross, The Black Madonna, The Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan, and many more top international and local Icelandic acts.

Two-time GRAMMY winners Slayer are long-reigning titans of punk-thrash who alongside bands like Metallica helped define the thrash-metal genre throughout their 34-year career. Touching down in Iceland as part of their Final World Tour fresh off their North American dates, this is a rare last opportunity to catch the legendary band.

American rapper, label owner, and Billboard chart-topper Gucci Mane who’s lucrative career is soon to be the subject of a Paramount biopic, credited as pioneering the hip-hop sub-genre known as trap music. The god of trap will no doubt bring his colorful beats to the Secret Solstice main stage.

British genre crossover group Clean Bandit best known for their hit single “Rather Be,” seamlessly blend classical music with pop bringing together strings, piano, percussion, vocals and electronic beats. Their refreshing take on modern pop music and reputation for incredible live shows will be sure to captivate Secret Solstice festival goers this June.

UK TECHNO DUO PIG AND DAN

UK Techno Duo Pig and Dan

December 5, 2017 by PrimeEV
Pig & Dan, techno

UK Techno Duo Pig and Dan

Uk Techno duo Pig and Dan, individually known as Igor Tchkotoua and Dan Duncan, are a UK based techno duo that formed after a chance meeting on a flight to Spain. In 1999, both Igor and Dan coincidentally were on the same plane to Spain. They struck up a conversation, and the rest is, as they say, history.

Prolific DJ Duo

Pig & Dan have played alongside some the biggest names in the techno and house music world, as well as headlined themselves. They’ve been a part of the most significant global festivals including

  • Ultra
  • Tomorrowland
  • Nocturnal Wonderland
  • Awakenings

They’ve blessed the decks in some of the most famous nightclubs worldwide such as Amnesia Ibiza, Ushuaia Ibiza, Crobar Buenos Aries, Output New York, Womb Tokyo, and the Eden Terrace atop Nocturnal Nightclub Miami.

The Production Team

Pig & Dan have nearly twenty years together produced some of the most prolific music in techno. While they have a signature sound, which is precisely recognizable, they have the uncanny ability to push their musical envelope. It’s a contradiction to be identifiable and diverse at the same time, which is a testament to their talent.

Pig & Dan have released music on renowned labels such as Sven Väth’s Cocoon Recordings, Slam’s Soma, John Digweed’s Bedrock, Monika Kruse’s Terminal M and Richie Hawtins’ Plus 8. Apart from their extensive discography they’ve collaborated and remixed for the some of the industries greats including Underworld, DEADMAU5, John Digweed, and Innercity with their massive classic Goodlife.

After so many years in the business plus four albums under their belt, the dynamic duo took it upon themselves to push their envelope on LP number five by producing the much acclaimed downtempo album ‘Destination Unknown.’ Boasting flavors of Hip-Hop, Dub, and soul, they managed to top the Beatport chart from more than four months in a genre they have never cut previously.

Both behind the decks and in the studio they’ve proved that their momentum is continuously rising. They’ve had a year playing the world’s most famous venues and celebrated a #1 in both the overall and Techno genres on Beatport with their smash hit ‘Growler.’

Pig & Dan also released the album ‘Modular Baptism’ on their label Elevate. Hailed as an accurate reference to their unique sonic diversity, it shot straight to #1 on the Beatport release charts.

They released their ‘Mexico’ EP on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode which celebrated yet again top ten hits. They also had the honor of compiling and mixing the final Space Ibiza compilation CD alongside Carl Cox. Their latest collaboration with Techno Queen Monika Kruse on her own imprint Terminal M smashed up the Beatport charts once again.

Currently the dynamic duo is once again celebrating top ten on Beatport with their remix of Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s hit track ‘Sorry I’m late.’ This latest remix has gained massive support from industry leaders such as Solomun and Maceo Plex.

The future is blinding with upcoming collaborations ready for release with artists Adam Beyer, Harvey Mckay, ANNA, and Stephan Hinz. Their track, ‘La Bruja,’ was featured on Drumcode’s prolific A-Sides compilation.
