Ace Ventura and Ryanosaurus Still Searching PsyTrance track of the Month January 2018 released on Iboga Records.

Iboga Records released the latest single from Ace Ventura and Ryanosaurus on January 26th, 2018. The single, ‘Still Searching,’ has found the jazzy side of progressive psytrance. The track combines jazz melodies with rolling basslines. The result is a dance-worthy tune with just enough twerk to not take itself too seriously.

There is a bonus in the funky techno version, ‘Stomping Ground.’
You can listen to both below.

The Dirtybird Records boss has kept the foreboding feel of the original, including the low-slung acid wobbles, but with a beefed up beat and an overarching, all-consuming theme.

Melancholic Techno Artist Charlotte de Witte

Taking the world by storm is Belgian melancholic techno artist Charlotte de Witte. She has a vision for her music and models her career to bring that idea to life. Her work ethic has her torching dance floors across Europe every weekend with her aggressive techno sets.

After conquering Europe, Asia, and Canada, the rest of the world is calling. Next stop for Charlotte: World Domination! She is that rare breed of DJ who can perform on the most significant stages as well as the sweatiest underground raves.

With all of her accomplishments thus far, her heart belongs to the underground techno scene and her home of Belgium. She is humble and maintains a sense of stewardship if you will, with up-and-coming talent. She has a Saturday night radio show, ‘Playground Charlotte de Witte’ on Studio Brussel. Studio Brussel is Belgium’s leading radio station. She has a residency, ‘KNTXT’ at Fuse nightclub, which has been a staple in the Brussels techno since 1994. She uses these opportunities to showcase music from lesser-known artists.

Influences

Her hometown of Ghent, Belgium, had an immense impact on her life. The underground nightlife and quality festivals enticed her to become a DJ. She realized the importance only recently of growing up in Belgium. She found New Beat and rave culture influenced her later music.

Charlotte has an affinity for melancholic music. She enjoys tracks with breakable, fragile voices. Her favorite artists for such music are James Blake, Bob Moses, Dillon, Lera Lynn, Julia Stone, and Rhye. Someday, she hopes to collaborate with them as she feels her techno would be a great match.

The Producer

Charlotte started producing music about five years ago. After DJ’ing for some time, she found a need to understand the music. She wanted to know what made a track work, so she delved deep within herself to find the essence of music. Producing gave her another vehicle to reveal herself through melancholy techno.

Making music really gives me a chance to tap into the more emotional side of electronic music that I love. Music that has that melancholic side to it, I just find it so much more interesting, whether DJ’ing, producing or just listening myself at home.

Melancholic Techno

Charlotte chooses the names of her tracks by two methods. She merely uses the word most oft-repeated or waits for the emotion the song elicits. For instance, the title track, ‘Weltschmerz,’ of her first EP is a German word. The German author, Jean-Paul, defined Weltschmerz as, ‘the feeling experienced by someone who believes that physical reality can never satisfy the demands of the mind.’ Charlotte was overcome by melancholy and appropriately named the track.

The inspiration for naming her song ‘Brussels’ was a conversation she overheard. While at a noodle bar in the city, she heard a woman talk about her boyfriend going on a night out. The woman said,

And I looked into his eyes, and he was gone. I didn’t know what to do.

The words imprinted on her mind and they fit this song.

This remix got released last week and i must say i’m pleasantly surprised and very proud to see it has jumped to the Beatport Techno Top 10. Many thanks for this! ????????

Cazztek If You Really Wanna House Music Track of the Month January 2018

Cazztek If You Really Wanna House Music Track of the Month January 2018 featured lyricist Kiyoshi. This house track was released on January 12, 2018, on Tchami’s label, Confession.

Cazztek described the track as follows:

I had such a strong response with ‘Came To Get Funky’ that I wanted to take the core of the sound design I created with it and push the envelope even further, while also using an unusual element that makes you try to figure out if it’s a fluke or some sort of pitched brass, which interjects a middle eastern flare to the beat. Fuse it with some lyrical hip-hop flow from the mastermind Kiyoshi and you’ve got something no one’s ever heard before. When I showed this to Tchami for consideration on Confession, it was an immediate ‘Yes.’

Hernan Cattaneo’s label, Sudbeat Music started 2018 with a bang. Our progressive house track of the month for January 2018 is Alexander van Schooneveld’s, aka Alex O’Rion’s ‘Wisteria’ topped Beatport’s Progressive House chart for January 2018. The Dutch DJ Producer made his mark releasing trance tracks on Black Hole Recordings and Magik Muzik.

2017 appeared to be a break out year for Alex. He debuted at El Paradis, Ibiza. He performed at the Ultra Sonic Festival, Holland and Fabric Club, the Czech Republic throughout the summer. He secured appearances at Nature One Festival, Germany, Trancefusion, the Czech Republic, and Ministry of Sound, London.

His 2018 EP, ‘Wisteria’ contains three progressive house tracks, ‘Wisteria,’ ‘The Sirenum Scopuli,’ and Muriwai.’ The title track, ‘Wisteria,’ described as

Cleverly arranged tribal drums marks opener ‘Wisteria’ out before the melodic elements drive the track ever forwards. The main break serves as a brief respite before warped synth madness draws us back under its spell.

Matt Darey Crown of Thorns Progressive Trance of the Month January 2018

Matt Darey Crown of Thorns Progressive Trance

Matt Darey Crown of Thorns progressive trance track of the month for January 2018 featuring Kate Louise Smith (Aurosonic Remix) from his debut artist album, “Blossom & Decay.” Listening to this, I tried to think of a way to describe it. I found an excellent description of the album, which I think illustrates this track beautifully, on the Armada Music website.

‘Blossom & Decay’ gathers all those years of musical involvement, passion for the groove and feel for melody. It tells you about Matt’s love for deep progressive, breaths the rhythm of a melodic tide and washes over with alluring soundscapes, all driven by the beat. Featuring vocals by the likes of Kate Louise Smith, Leah, Ashley Tomberlin, Kirsty Thirsk, Sir Adrian and others, you’ll be led by soulful lyrics and thought-provoking songwriting. Matt Darey’s album is full of lush collaborations, pumping remixes and genre-bending originals.

Here is a one hour portion of Nocturnal 363 on Mixcloud, which includes some of the new tracks. It was an absolute joy to listen.
