Desert Hearts Festival 2018

Desert Hearts Records is a tribute to House, Techno, & Love. With multiple Desert Hearts Festivals year round and one-off City Hearts events popping up around the nation. Thump Magazine said of Desert Hearts,

We are all Desert Hearts.

US EDM DUO NORIN & RAD

US EDM Duo Norin & Rad

EDM, Norin & Rad

US EDM Duo Norin and Rad

US EDM Duo Norin and Rad, Bruce Karlsson (Norin), and Nick Sember (Rad) were named after the original name of the comic book character, Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd. Tipped as stars of the future by Above & Beyond, Bruce and Nick have lived up to that billing and more, releasing numerous smash hits that have found their way into DJ sets around the world.

Since their breakthrough smash hit “Bloom,” the California upstarts produced the most futuristic trance-influenced grooves and progressive EDM around with a string of Anjunabeats anthems such as “Zion,” “DeVas,” “Pistol Whip” and “Five Finger Death Punch.” By 2013, their production output varied from the rave-influenced progressive house riot that is “Bird Is The Word” and techno-edged “Thunder Cat” to their recent release “Prototype,” produced alongside their brother-from-another-mother Andrew Bayer under their collaborative ‘Artificial’ moniker.

The duo found time to remix the soundtrack from the world’s most prestigious video games franchise, Halo 4, as well as “The Way You Are” by Australian outfit Peking Duk and the legendary “Air For Life” by Above & Beyond and Andy Moor. They joined Andy for his AVA Takeover at WMC 2012, along with tyDi, Marcus Schossow, Boom Jinx, Joseph Areas, and Betsie Larkin.

As full of energy as their music, the duo’s unique approach and fast-cutting DJ style earned them rightful reputations as party starters of the highest order. In 2013, these two SoCal boys played some of Australia’s biggest arenas with Above & Beyond, toured with Mat Zo on his Damage Control bus tour and rocked legendary spots around the world, from New York’s Roseland Ballroom to India’s Jayamahal Palace, to Amnesia Ibiza. On the festival circuit, they conquered the stages of Miami’s Ultra, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo, Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld, and Creamfields in England, Argentina, and Peru.

On November 7, 2014, Nick Sember (Rad) posted on Facebook that Bruce Karlsson (Norin) had indeed left Norin & Rad. Nick continued Norin & Rad himself along with his self-titled solo project and has released tracks under Anjunabeats. Karlsson joined Kevin Wild and Elias Ghosn and formed Bad Royale.

SWEDISH EDM DJ PRODUCER MARCUS SCHOSSOW

Swedish EDM DJ Producer Marcus Schossow

December 11, 2017 by PrimeEV
EDM, Marcus Schossow

Swedish EDM DJ Producer Marcus Schossow

Swedish EDM DJ Producer Marcus Schossow was born in Helsingborg, Sweden on October 28, 1985. His aliases include 1985, Oliver Englafjord, Progresia, Sokaya, Sunglider, and Tone Diary. He and his alter egos have been making music since he was five years old!

The Disruption of EDM 2007

Marcus released ‘Mr. White’ on Coldharbour Recordings Red in 2007. ‘Mr. White’ was a fusion of futuristic techno, filthy house, and trance. Its sound was intended to reinvent electronic dance music. It automatically became appealing to a whole host of DJs and music fans alike. Marcus was part of a hot, new, elite set of young DJs and producers with dance floors around the world clamoring for his infectious presence and prodigious mixing.

Progresia and Tone Diary established the ‘Schossow Sound’ while his work with fellow producer Thomas Sagstad has seen Tiesto, Axwell, and Steve Lawler snapping up tracks like ‘Hypnotizer’ and ‘Crepusculo.’ World-renowned label Spinnin’ Records gave Marcus their full backing when they signed him after his 22nd birthday. This signing made him their youngest to date.

At only 22, Marcus became a force in the dance music realm. Further support came from the A-list of DJ Producers including Pete Tong, Armin Van Buuren, Steve Angelo, and Sander van Doorn. These endorsements underlined Marcus’s increasing influence in the world of dance.

With Tone Diary, Marcus’ acclaimed radio show; the sound of Schossow travels even further. Setting the airwaves ablaze, he reaches those not lucky enough to have caught him live yet and reminds those who have of why they’ll have to check him out again!

And it’s not just his ability as a producer that screams ‘watch this person.’ Schossow is in demand around the world! He’s spun in major cities in the United States such as Los Angeles and Miami. He joined Andy Moor for his WMC 2010 event, Andy Moor and Friends. He’s in constant demand across Europe, the Far East and beyond are all calling out for gaps in his diary. In the short time, Marcus has been around; he’s already clocked up some of the biggest gigs in the calendar: Dance Valley, Godskitchen, Sunrise Festival, Escape Into the Park, Zurich’s Street Parade and the Colours Festival are just some!

Marcus possesses a résumé packed to the brim with releases on major labels. They include Size Records, Axtone Records, Revealed Recordings, Big Beat (Atlantic Records), and Spinnin’ Records. He also injected new life into his Code Red imprint with the banger, ‘Rumble.’ Marcus also serves as an outstanding mentor to young artists. He uses his status as a veteran in the scene when working along names like Corey James, NEW_ID and more.

Code Red Music

If you want to do something good, you have to do it yourself.

It was that belief that led Marcus Schossow to begin the Code Red Music project in 2015. The basic concept is to find, recruit, and mentor talented artists. The label’s core values as both an institution and record company were quickly acclaimed by many.

In Marcus’s words,

we wanted to create a place where our musical dreams can run wild

A core value of this belief is to

speak to each other daily, seeking to help and assist wherever possible

Not in the form of a constitution or set of rules, but in creative freedom.

Code Red Music’s focus is the musical journey and experience. Charts are valued just as much as discovery. At the core of this mission is interaction. Through the shared vision of Marcus, the artists, and their fans, they aspire to expand the quest for musical freedom and friendship.

Friendship is an important construct, and this involves everyone. Through interviews, tutorials and feedback sessions, the Code Red team wants to hear everyone’s thoughts and help improve the music. They want everyone to become part of this shared belief, and

have the options to create what we want to do, without anyone telling us how

Iceland Secret Solstice 2018

Iceland Secret Solstice 2018 from June 21 – 24 is the bucket-list music festival held during 96 hours of straight sunlight in Reykjavik. The signature Side Events, Into The Glacier and The Lava Tunnel return for their fifth edition with tickets went on sale Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 7 am ET / 4 am PT. Combining a world-class music festival with the many natural attractions that the land of fire and ice has to offer, Secret Solstice will once again prove why it has earned the title of the world’s “unique festival” thanks to their spectacular event experiences you can’t find anywhere else.

The New York Times described Iceland as one of,

20 Places To Travel In Your 20s.

Wonders of Nature

There are many reasons that Iceland is a popular destination for tourists eager to experience the country’s otherworldly landscape of glaciers and volcanic deserts. Recently nominated by The European Festival Awards, the carbon-neutral festival attracts visitors from across the globe keen to dance in the rays of the never-setting midnight sun to a world-class and diverse musical lineup while experiencing many of the country’s extraordinary environmental attractions. Just outside Reykjavik, visitors can discover supernatural landscapes boasting beautiful waterfalls, icy glaciers, black sand beaches, and vast volcanic fields as well as world-famous sites like the Blue Lagoon and Game of Thrones filming locations. More accessible than ever from major U.S. cities, it’s not hard to see why Reykjavik is the second most popular destination by travel search engine Kayak.

The Side Events utilize Iceland’s stunning natural settings and spaces and cater to both music and nature lovers, offering once in a lifetime, jaw-dropping experiences. While stepping inside Europe’s second largest glacier Langjökull or journeying deep into a 5,200-year-old Lava Tunnel, those lucky enough to snap up one of the highly prized tickets will be treated to intimate and exclusive performances from Icelandic and international artists. For thousands of years what lay beneath the surface of the Langjökull glacier was considered a mystery and it was only recently that humans were able to see the spectacular blue ice buried 130 feet beneath the surface. Equally as breathtaking, the journey into the magnificent lava caves at Raufarhólshellir is a chance to witness what happens underground during a volcanic eruption which results in natural ice sculptures and stalactites in connecting lava tubes that form natural subterranean arteries. With extremely limited tickets available for ‘Into The Glacier’ on Saturday, June 23 and The Lava Tunnel taking place on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, these events are sure to sell out.

Billboard magazine exclaimed,

Secret Solstice is shaping up to be one of the standout international events on the summer calendar.

Artists at past editions of Secret Solstice have included the likes of Anderson .Paak, Big Sean, Chaka Khan, Die Antwoord, Dubfire, Foo Fighters, Kerri Chandler, Jamie Jones, Of Monsters and Men, Radiohead, Rick Ross, The Black Madonna, The Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan, and many more top international and local Icelandic acts.

Phase 2 Announced February 20, 2018

Following on from their recent phase 1 announcement, Iceland’s Secret Solstice is pleased to announce its second wave of artists. The added artists include the iconic metal band Slayer. Slayer is on its Final World Tour. Rapper Gucci Mane and electro-pop group Clean Bandit also announced. All three acts are playing in Iceland for the first time.

Two-time GRAMMY winners Slayer are long-reigning titans of punk-thrash who alongside bands like Metallica helped define the thrash-metal genre throughout their 34-year career. Touching down in Iceland as part of their Final World Tour fresh off their North American dates, this is a rare last opportunity to catch the legendary band.

American rapper, label owner, and Billboard chart-topper Gucci Mane who’s lucrative career is soon to be the subject of a Paramount biopic, credited as pioneering the hip-hop sub-genre known as trap music. The god of trap will no doubt bring his colorful beats to the Secret Solstice main stage.

British genre crossover group Clean Bandit best known for their hit single “Rather Be,” seamlessly blend classical music with pop bringing together strings, piano, percussion, vocals and electronic beats. Their refreshing take on modern pop music and reputation for incredible live shows will be sure to captivate Secret Solstice festival goers this June.

These three artists add to the diverse list of headline artists previously announced including Stormzy, Bonnie Tyler, Death From Above, Steve Aoki, Jet Black Joe, GRAMMY nominees 6lack and Goldink, J Hus, Charlotte de Witte, Skream, A-Trak, Masego, IAMDBB, Högni and Gentleman’s Dub Club.

Also announced are 13 local artists. Several Icelandic hip-hop and rap acts such as bubblegum trap queen Alvia, Cell7, Elli Grill, Geisha Cartel, Landaboi$, Ragga Hólm, Sprite Zero Klan, Vala CruNk, and Yung Nigo Drippin alongside pop talent Birgir and GDRN, rock group HAM, and semi-acoustic band Vio.

DUTCH EDM DJ PRODUCER SANDER VAN DOORN

Dutch EDM DJ Producer Sander van Doorn

November 29, 2017 by PrimeEV
EDM, Sander van Doorn, Trance

Dutch EDM DJ Producer Sander van Doorn

Background

Dutch EDM DJ Producer Sander van Doorn was born in February 1979 in Eindhoven, Netherlands. He started his musical career in 1995 at the age of seventeen. Enamored with his brother’s Roland Groovebox 303, Sander began his journey into electronic music. He borrowed his cousin’s records and his brother’s Groovebox and learned his craft.

Musical Style

Sander has created his unique sound and style. He style has ranged from tech house and progressive house to vocal electro house to trance and tech trance. It’s impossible to appoint one specific genre to him; his music gets influenced by a vast spectrum of factors.

He is a producer at heart and started DJing to generate exposure for his productions. He continues to be an immensely prolific and diverse producer, with his prodigious solo output plus extensive collaborations helping him to amass millions of plays on YouTube and Spotify. ‘Gold Skies’ for example has picked up well over 60 million streams alone, making for one of the biggest hits of his career so far. His A&R skills show no sign of faltering either with his DOORN Records imprint unleashing a steady stream of big names and hot new talents alike.

Purple Haze

2017 saw him launch his intoxicating alias Purple Haze, dedicated to a “sharper, darker, rougher” sound. He unveiled the project at Ultra Music Festival with a spectacular audio-visual live show that vividly brought to life his new concept. Later in the year, he released the debut Purple Haze album, SPECTRVM: a riot of dark trance and tough techno with some standout vocals to boot. Rather than taking luster away from his usual SvD sounds, the new project has created a positive, synergized feedback loop in his studio.

Too often I’ve seen artists lose their focus when they try to combine too many different sounds, but I get so much creative energy from working on this project that it’s added to the creative flow for Sander van Doorn.

It’s just the start of Purple Haze, with some very big plans in the works — and with such a positive reaction from fans, more material is hotly anticipated.

Accomplishments

Today, Sander has performed thousands of shows in every corner of the world and released numerous solo records, yet he is still part of a group of innovative and progressive artists. Sander’s creative process exists of re-inventing musical styles, taking risks in regards to the sound he creates and most importantly staying ahead of the masses. Regular appearances at world-beating clubs and festivals like Creamfields, Tomorrowland, UNTOLD Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival pepper his hectic diary which sees him plays to tens of thousands across the globe every month.

Sander has three full-length albums, numerous hit-singles, remixes of the world’s most prominent artists, and sold-out gigs in all major venues and festivals worldwide. He has a successful record label and a weekly radio show named Identity. Sander van Doorn continues his musical journey into the heart of fans around the world.

He headlined Night Shift on the Eden Terrace at Nocturnal Nightclub, Miami, alongside residents Joseph Areas and Snay & Gin in 2010.
